It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 24th JSSX, Japanese Society for the Study of Xenobiotics, Annual Meeting in Kyoto, an ancient capital city of Japan, November 27-29, 2009. The overall theme for the meeting this year is "Drug Discovery/Development & Pharmacotherapy Driven by PK/PD".
The research field of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) has been extensively evolved in Japan, such as identifying the drug-metabolizing enzymes, drug transporters, genetic polymorphism and their regulating mechanisms as well as in vivo PK/PD analyses. These findings contribute to the drug discovery, development and application for personalized pharmacotherapy. The President Prof. Yamazoe and Council members recognize the necessity of globalization of JSSX, and they expect the annual meeting expanded to any researchers working in the world, especially in the Asia-Pacific area. In the past JSSX Annual Meetings, the number of presentations both by oral and poster in English has been grown. This time, I announce you that English has been set as an official language, and then, most of oral presentations will be basically held in English. The Scientific Program Committee is now working to cover the various aspects of preclinical and clinical significance of PK/PD as well as the most recent topics in the field.
Kyoto is one of the most vibrant and modern Japanese cities, with outstanding cultural and historic landmarks, and is also well known as the capital of the classical Japanese fashion.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I look forward to welcoming you to Kyoto in 2009 autumn.
