Message from the Chair of the 27th Annual Meeting of JSSX in Chiba
It is my great honor to hold the 27th Annual Meeting of Japanese Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (JSSX) in Tower Hall Funabori from November 20th to 22nd, 2012.
Study on the drug metabolism and disposition is one of the important fields of science that Japan leads the world. There is no doubt that this area has made much contribution to the development of drug discovery and drug therapy. Thus, I decided the theme of this meeting as “Recent progress in the study of drug metabolism and disposition that promotes drug discovery and drug therapy”.
Scientific program committee has decided to provide 2 distinguished lectures, 4 themes of symposium, 2 themes of round-table discussion, and one forum in this meeting. Ninety oraland 168 poster-presentations were also chosen. In addition to them, open-style symposium in which presenters are invited from the general presentation sections has been newly planned in this meeting. Twelve presentations have been selected from general presentations by the members of organizing committee, and enrolled into the two open-style symposiums, which is entitled as ”Recent progress in the study of drug metabolism and disposition, in 2012- (1) and -(2)”. Moreover, “mixer” is also planned newly for student attendees to have close communication among young scientists.
Nine years have passed since JSSX started to change official language used in the Annual Meeting from Japanese to English. Now all the oral presentations are given in English. This change made the number of foreign attendees increased year by year. I expect vigorous discussion in English in this meeting.
Finally, I hope this meeting will be meaningful for all the attendees through the presentation and discussion on the recent progress in the study of drug metabolism and disposition and also hope all the attendees enjoy staying around Chiba area.
