About Newsletter

The Japanese Society for Pharmacokinetics publishes a newsletter six times a year (at the end of even-numbered months).

The Newsletter provides meaningful information related to pharmacokinetic research. The newsletter contains messages from authors of articles published in DMPK (Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics), a journal published by the society in English, as well as messages from great researchers who are pioneers of pharmacokinetic research and active researchers, and explanations of pharmacokinetic research methodologies. The content of the forum is wide-ranging, including messages from authors of articles published in DMPK (e.g., commentaries in Japanese), messages from great pioneers and current researchers in pharmacokinetics, and methodological explanations of pharmacokinetics.

Feature Articles

Messages to the Young Researchers

This section is a series of “Messages to Young Researchers”, in which we would like to provide a series of articles by retired researchers who have left the front lines of research to talk to the younger generation about what they thought about their research during their working days, what the front lines of drug discovery research were like, and how they managed the management of the society. The term “young people” does not refer to young researchers, but to young people from the viewpoint of the sender of the message, and has nothing to do with age. We hope that the messages of our predecessors will provide hints for breakthroughs.

Topics

With the development of academic science, such as new discoveries and the development of new methods, the evaluation items and methods for pharmaceuticals and other products, from research and development to post-marketing evaluation, are continually evolving. Correspondingly, regulatory information from regulatory authorities in Japan, the U.S., and Europe, as well as ICH, is constantly being updated. Here, we will introduce the latest technologies and findings used in drug development, regulatory information on drug review, and related information topics. We hope that you will find this article useful for your work.

Pharmacokinetic Society of Japan Newsletter: Regulatory Science Information

With the development of new discoveries, new methodologies, and other academic advances, the evaluation of pharmaceuticals and other products from research and development to post-marketing evaluation and their methods are constantly evolving. In response, regulatory information from regulatory authorities in Japan, the U.S., and Europe, as well as from ICH and other regulatory agencies, is constantly updated. This section introduces the latest technologies and findings used in drug development, regulatory information on drug review, and related guidelines.

NEW POWER working on dynamic research

NEW FACE – NEW POWER” is intended to provide an opportunity for our members to get to know new and young doctors who are expected to be very active in the future, regardless of industry or academia, and to bring new vitality and stimulation to our society. We would like to ask the authors to introduce themselves, including their personal histories, and to write frankly and actively about their research prospects, expectations and suggestions for the society and our field. All of you are expected to be stars of hope for the future of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. We hope that this corner will foster a “culture of fostering new young power throughout the society” and help the mutual development of old and new members. Please send your suggestions to the editorial board members.

ADME-Circle

ADME-Circle “Japanese Pharmacokinetic Research Organizations” is a series of articles written by professors who have been involved in the establishment of pharmacokinetic-related organizations in companies, educational, research, or medical institutions, or who have played leading roles in such organizations. The articles are not limited to a mere overview of their research, but also include the background of their research and the essence of how they achieved their research goals. We hope that these articles will provide hints for our members to carry out their research.

Academic Society Signposts

The purpose of the “Society Guidebook” is to highlight scientific meetings that we think are useful to JSSX members without being bound by the framework of pharmacokinetics, and to report the contents and atmosphere of those meetings or announcements. Pharmacokineticists in both industry and academia are active in various fields, such as evaluation of drug effects and analysis of pathophysiology, beyond the framework of mere pharmacokinetics of drugs. Under such circumstances, we aim to provide a section that introduces scientific meetings that are useful to our members. If you have any information on the meetings that you are interested in, please let us know and we will feature it in this corner.

Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Pharmacokinetic Studies

Following on from “Cell Therapy,” this is the second installment of our series on antibody drug conjugates (ADCs), an introduction to pharmacokinetic research in the research and development of new modality. The kinetic properties of ADCs depend on their components such as antibodies as carriers, small molecule drugs (payloads) that exert their effects, linkers that bind them, and their binding mode. Since the distribution inside and outside the cell and the biotransformation process leading to the expression of the drug effect are complex, advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis and imaging techniques are required to elucidate them. In this series of articles, we will introduce the kinetic characteristics of ADCs and strategies/technologies for their evaluation in multiple articles with actual examples, so please look forward to it!

Message from DMPK Authors to Readers

The authors of the latest issue of DMPK, the journal of the Japanese Society of Pharmacokinetics, will give an overview of their papers and introduce the messages they have included in their papers. We hope that you will use this issue to catch up with the latest information in the field of pharmacokinetics and to help you understand the authors’ intentions in their papers.

Introduction of Technologies and Research Materials (Company Advertisements)

This section is intended for advertisements from companies that provide technologies and research materials for pharmacokinetic research. This section was established with the expectation that research will be conducted more efficiently through access to information on new technologies and products.
