Overview
Drug metabolism plays an important role in controlling the pharmacokinetics of drugs and influences drug responsiveness and toxicity. In addition, it may also play a role in the biosynthesis of biological substances. Therefore, understanding the physiological significance of metabolic enzymes may lead to drug discovery. Since elucidation of the pathogenesis of drug toxicity is also an issue, the latest information on drug metabolism and toxicology will be provided and discussed to contribute to more effective and safer drug discovery and drug treatment.
