From the Newsletter Editor-in-Chief Hoping for Further Development of the Japanese Pharmacokinetics Society

DMPK Newsletter Editor-in-Chief

Ikumi Tamai

I am pleased to announce that I have started the editorial board of the newsletter of the Japanese Journal of Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, together with Dr. Hiroshi Suzuki of the University of Tokyo, Dr. Hidefumi Kasai of Keio University, and Dr. Masato Chiba of Banyu Seiyaku. I am sure we have many things to work on, but I would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation.

As you are probably aware, the official journal of our society, “Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK),” has been renewed as the English version this year, aiming to disseminate information on pharmacokinetics to the rest of the world. Many of you may have experienced that the barriers for submissions from Japan tend to be higher than those from home countries for English-language journals published overseas. As a result, we may fall behind in terms of originality, and I personally have longed for an international journal on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics originating from Japan. I believe that pharmacokinetic research in Japan is not inferior to that of other countries, and I hope that DMPK will develop as an academic journal that disseminates innovative results in both name and substance.
