About Newsletter

The Japanese Society for Pharmacokinetics publishes a newsletter six times a year (at the end of even-numbered months).

The Newsletter provides meaningful information related to pharmacokinetic research. The newsletter contains messages from authors of articles published in DMPK (Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics), a journal published by the society in English, as well as messages from great researchers who are pioneers of pharmacokinetic research and active researchers, and explanations of pharmacokinetic research methodologies. The content of this special issue is wide-ranging, including messages from authors (e.g., commentaries in Japanese) on articles published in DMPK, messages from great researchers and active researchers who are pioneers in pharmacokinetic research, and commentaries on pharmacokinetic research methodology.

Introduction of Feature Articles

Messages to the Young

In this section, legendary researchers in the field of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics talk to the younger generation about what their research policies have been, how they have been at the forefront of drug discovery research, and how they have been involved in the management of academic societies. Young people are not young researchers, but young people from the viewpoint of the sender of the message, and are not related to age. We hope that the messages of our predecessors will provide hints for breakthroughs.

Topics

In addition to events sponsored by the society, such as the annual meeting, we will cover a wide range of topics related to pharmacokinetics.

Pharmacokinetic Society of Japan Newsletter: Information on Regulatory Science

With the development of new discoveries and methods, the evaluation items and methods for pharmaceuticals and other products are constantly evolving from research and development to post-marketing evaluation. In response, regulatory information from regulatory authorities in Japan, the U.S., and Europe, as well as ICH and other regulatory bodies, is constantly being updated. This section introduces the latest technologies and findings used in drug development, regulatory information on drug review, and related guidelines.

NEW POWER for dynamic research

The purpose of this issue is to provide an opportunity for our members to get to know young and promising professors who are expected to be active in the future in both industry and academia, and to bring new vitality and stimulation to our society. The authors will introduce their research achievements and future goals with their personal histories, as well as their expectations for the society and our field. We hope that this corner will help to foster a “culture of fostering new young power throughout the society. Please send your suggestions to the editorial board members.

AdmeCircle: Pharmacokinetics Research Organization in Japan

The purpose of this section is to share our experiences as an academic society by inviting contributions from professors who have been involved in the establishment of pharmacokinetics-related organizations in companies, educational, research, and medical institutions, or those who are leading such organizations. We would like you to introduce the appeal points of your organization members and research contents, and also to write about your innovations and mottos in the management of your organization. We hope that this corner will be an opportunity for further mutual understanding and exchange among our members.

Guideposts of the Society

The purpose of this section is to introduce scientific meetings that we think are useful for the members of the Japanese Society of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacokinetics. Pharmacokineticists in both industry and academia are active in various fields such as evaluation of drug efficacy and analysis of pathophysiology beyond the framework of mere pharmacokinetics of drugs. Under such circumstances, we aim to provide a section that introduces scientific meetings that are useful to our members. If you have any information on meetings that you are interested in, please let us know and we will feature it in this corner.

Research on Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Pharmacokinetics in the body

Following on from “Cell Therapy,” this is the second installment of our series of articles on the pharmacokinetics of antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) in the research and development of new modality drugs. The kinetic properties of ADCs depend on their components such as antibodies as carriers, small molecule drugs (payloads) that exert their effects, linkers that bind them, and their binding mode. Since the distribution inside and outside the cell and the biotransformation process leading to the expression of the drug effect are complex, advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis and imaging techniques are required to elucidate them. In this series of articles, we will introduce the kinetic characteristics of ADCs and strategies/technologies for their evaluation in multiple articles with actual examples, so please look forward to it!

Message from DMPK Authors to Readers

The authors of the latest issue of DMPK, the journal of the Japanese Society of Pharmacokinetics, will give an overview of their papers and introduce the messages they have included in their papers. We hope you will find this information useful to catch up with the latest information in the field of pharmacokinetics and to understand the authors’ intentions in their papers.

Introduction of Technology and Research Materials (Company Advertisements)

This section is for advertisements from companies that provide technologies and research materials for pharmacokinetic research. We hope that this will help you to conduct your research more efficiently by providing you with information on new technologies and products.
